Section 44 – COUNTY TREASURER AND COUNTY SURVEYOR
(a) Except as otherwise provided by this section, the Legislature shall prescribe the duties and provide for the election by the qualified voters of each county in this State, of a County Treasurer and a County Surveyor, who shall have an office at the county seat, and hold their office for four years, and until their successors are qualified; and shall have such compensation as may be provided by law.
(b) The office of County Treasurer or County Surveyor does not exist in those counties in which the office has been abolished pursuant to constitutional amendment or pursuant to the authority of Subsection (c) of this section.

Land surveying is the practice of land measurement as determined by the application of the principles of geodesy, mathematics, applied and physical sciences, and relevant laws for the purpose of determining real property boundaries, laying out of lands, calculations of area, preparation of plat records and corresponding field note descriptions and proper monumentation. All are done according to the General Rules of Procedures and Practices set forth by the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying.
Main objective of a county surveyor is to determine the correctness of documents or records being submitted to the county court for official recordation. As such, he serves as an advisor to the commissioner’s court on matters relating to subdivision regulations, county line location and boundary disputes.
Having served as a legal expert in numerous court cases concerning boundary disputes, his goal is to protect and preserve individual property rights.
Appointed as County Surveyor in 1999, Elected to an un-expired term in 2000, and continuously elected since that time.
Registered with the State of Texas as a Professional Land Surveyor in 1998.
Member of the Texas Society of Professional Land Surveyors.
Serves in private practice under the name of Statewide Surveying Service.
